The holy warrior

The weekend seminar “The Sacred Warrior” is designed as a group-based, experiential, and nature-embedded self-awareness program based on the principles of core shamanism.
The program is led by a certified core shaman and shamanic practitioner.

In addition to learning and deepening basic skills and abilities in the field of
survival techniques, such as orientation in the terrain, physically demanding marches,
building shelters, making fire, and obtaining food and water, etc.,
rituals and self-reflection exercises are used to establish contact with one's inner warrior.

Throughout the seminar, we will explore the question of what a warrior actually is and what tasks a warrior has to fulfill.
This includes addressing the topics of violence and combat.

In group ceremonies, the power of community is invoked, strengthened, and internalized;
the realization that renouncing violence is an honorable and desirable goal should mature.
To strengthen this understanding, it is advisable to know and understand violence in its original forms. A warrior stands on a wooden platform in the forest with a shield and sword.

Aggression itself is innate to all mammals and serves
a necessary biological purpose.
Demonizing it, prohibiting it, and generally judging it as bad will sooner
or later only lead to outbreaks of uncontrolled aggression.
Be it in physical attacks, outbursts of anger, passive-aggressive behavior, addictions,
or other harmful behaviors.

Recognizing and understanding one's own aggression and channeling it in a non-harmful way
is a major task, usually lasting a lifetime.

In the seminar, we approach this topic within a group that cares for one another and treats each member with respect, creating a sacred and safe space in which everyone can explore this topic.
The seminar is led by a team of experienced facilitators who have been working together for many years.
The seminar is open to everyone who is interested in exploring this topic.
inneren Anteil erkunden kann.

Working in nature without many tools or amenities promotes the inner strength, resilience, and robustness that exists within each of us.
The program is designed for adults aged 18 and older.

How exactly will we address this topic?

Nature will serve as our teacher and training ground.

In the past as well as today, survival in nature is one of the fundamental skills of a young warrior.
In the past as well as today, survival in nature is one of the fundamental skills of a young warrior.

The seminar will take place around a “base” from which we will set out into nature.
We will learn many techniques, gain new knowledge, challenge ourselves, and
gather important things from nature for survival.

At base camp, we will build fires, prepare food, make useful items, and construct our sleeping quarters.
We will sit together around the fire and perform small rituals.
Group exercises and small physical challenges will accompany us on our journey
to discover our inner warrior.
We will constantly exchange ideas, answer questions, and develop together.

Every exercise and every task will be voluntary; no one will be forced to do anything.
We solve all challenges either as a whole group or in small teams.
No one will be left alone!

2. Requirements and notes

The seminar will generally take place outdoors.
Therefore, appropriate clothing and equipment (list to follow after registration) are essential
in order to participate in the seminar.
We will have some physically demanding phases, and there will be less sleep and food
than most people are used to, so participation is only possible if you are in full physical health.

We will eat a diet based on natural foods. For the two main meals on Saturday evening and Sunday noon,
food will be provided for a small fee (see list),
which the participants will then prepare themselves.

Various foods are provided, including fruit, nuts, eggs, meat, and fish;
allergies and intolerances must be communicated in advance
so that alternatives can be provided.
The same applies to vegetarian or vegan diets.

Each participant should bring a tent, sleeping bag, and sleeping pad
so that they can sleep “warm and safe”;
however, the intention is to sleep at least one night in a self-built shelter by the fire.

If required, a cabin with running water, electricity, and a refrigerator is available.

We want to avoid the use of smartphones entirely during the seminar;
the exact rules will be announced on site.

Odrik

Initiator, developer, and leader of the workshop “The Holy Warrior, the Holy Warrior.”Odrik Lay - Lecturer at Schamanismus e.V.

My journey to spirituality and warriorhood began when I was 15 years old.
I first gained experience in armed martial arts through medieval reenactments of the Viking Age.
At the same time, I met many wonderful people
who identified themselves as Asatruers.

There, for the first time, I truly experienced the power and security of a community that honored nature and the beings of the non-ordinary world with rituals and celebrations.
Even then, I felt a deep connection to nature and spirit beings.

In 2008, my path led me to the German army, where I experienced a completely different world view.
Community and combat were the focus here; as a tank grenadier officer, I spent many years learning about modern combat, from individual soldier to company commander and beyond.
My path led me to the German army in 2008, where I experienced a completely different world view.

As part of my lone fighter training, I deepened my skills in survival in nature,
unarmed close combat, and enduring extreme stress.

I underwent an initiation-like transformation from a young man to a trained soldier.

However, the form of spirituality I practiced had no place there, so that part of myself
threatened to wither away.

This growing inner emptiness led me to Olaf Bernhardt in 2019; I completed the basic seminar and deepened my knowledge in the advanced seminars in the years that followed.

Since then, spirituality has once again become an integral part of my life, and I am
deeply grateful for every new experience and every new encounter.

This ultimately led me to teacher training in 2023/2024.

For many years now, I have been dealing with the topics of violence and violence prevention,
aggression and aggression control, war and peace, as well as soldiering and warriorism.

Looking at these aspects from the perspective of core shamanism, with nature as a place of teaching and learning,
is an important concern of mine, one that I would like to address with young people in particular.

I am part of two completely different worlds and on a journey that has only just begun.

Perhaps I can support others in advancing on their own path.
